The Renegade Spirit
Baton, Color Guard, and Drum Corps formed in the fall of 2006. We had our first
performance in the spring of 2007 at a community Easter Egg Hunt. From there we
went on to perform in parades around Maryland, winning first place at the
Odenton Fire Parade, Riviera Beach Fire Parade, and the Ravens Roost Parade in
Ocean City. In August of 2007, we began competing as members of the Capital
Area Marching Association. We found a great deal of success at each
competition, ultimately winning first place Majorette, Color Guard, and Drum
Line at C.A.M.A Championships. We also came home with the Beginner Grand
Championship trophy.
The Corps is an all
aged group allowing kids and adults to learn and perform side by side. We
accept new members year round. The Corps will offer
instruction in baton twirling, color guard (flag and rifle), and marching drums
(snare, bass, cymbal, and marching bells). No experience is required. There
may be additional opportunities for members to perform on pompon teams, dance
teams, and individual baton, flag, rifle, saber, and drum solos.
Our Mission
To educate the youth and
adults of the community about the performing arts of baton, color guard, and
percussion performance. To become a well regarded, highly sought after
entertaining unit considered to be fun to belong to and perform with.
Our Philosophy
Through education,
performance, and competition we strive to instill the values of discipline,
dedication, hard work, pride, teamwork, and commitment to excellence in our
corps and all of our performers.
Our Goal
To perform and
compete to the best of our abilities. To practice each time with the intent,
effort, and attitude necessary to improve and achieve our greatest potential as
performers and people
